• Farhana Begum, MD

    Farhana Begum is a proud New Yorker. She was born in Bangladesh and moved to New York City at the age of two. She attended Stevens Institute of Technology and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in chemical biology with a minor in history. Farhana received her medical degree from New York Medical College. After chief year, Farhana plans to pursue a career in nephrology. Besides spending time with friends and family, she enjoys travelling, hiking, scrapbooking, and trying new restaurants.

  • Matthew Capustin, MD

    Matthew Capustin was born and raised on Long Island, New York. He attended college at SUNY Binghamton University and obtained his Medical Degree from New York Medical College in Westchester, New York. In his free time, Matthew enjoys playing basketball and golf, watching sports, exploring New York City and catching Broadway musicals, singing, and spending time with his family and friends. After chief year, Matthew is planning to pursue a career in cardiology.

  • Alexander Smith, MD

    Alexander Smith was born at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and was raised in Great Neck, NY. He earned his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University with a major in biomedical engineering and a minor in Spanish. He earned his medical degree with distinction in research, and with a certificate of proficiency in medical Spanish, at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Alex is passionate about clinical reasoning, medical education, and medical Spanish. Outside of medicine, he enjoys sports and all things related to Star Wars or the Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul universe. He also loves spending time with his fiancé—whom he has been dating since their very first week of medical school at Hofstra. After completing chief residency, Alex plans to pursue a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine and a career in academic medicine as a clinician educator.

  • Stephanie Tse, MD

    Stephanie Tse was born in Puerto Rico, raised in Hong Kong, and has returned to the US and remained in Queens, NY area since her teenage years. She earned her bachelor's degree in Biochemistry at Stony Brook University in NY. She then received her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. During her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, biking, and trying foods from different restaurants across the NYC area. After her chief year, she plans to pursue a career in geriatrics and palliative medicine.

  • Spencer Weintraub, MD

    Spencer Weintraub was born and raised in Long Island, New York. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology at the University at Albany Honors College. He received his medical degree at New York Medical College where he graduated with a designation in research. After his chief resident year, he plans to pursue a fellowship in cardiology. During his free time, he enjoys weightlifting, swimming, and spending time with his family and friends.
